Anterior lumbar surgery is a common procedure for anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) and artificial disc replacement (ADR). These procedures require moving muscles, internal organs and major arteries and veins in order to have a clear view of the disc spaces. Vascular surgeons are uniquely trained to safely provide the spine surgeons with exposure they need to successful treat the lumbar disc disease.
