Vascular Disease affects approximately 10% of the American population,

with 30% to 40% of these patients presenting with leg pain symptoms. The prevalence of Vascular Disease increases with age and the number of vascular risk factors. More importantly, it is a marker of atherosclerotic disease burden, and is associated with increased mortality from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular causes.

Cardiovascular Disease in Women

Cardiovascular disease remains the most common cause of death among women and men in the US and has been for the past 30 years. Women generally have poorer outcomes with heart attacks and stroke likely because they are under-diagnosed and treated less aggressively than men.
