Renovascular Disease

Definition

Vascular disease affecting the arteries to the kidneys.

Renal artery stenosis
Renal artery aneurysm
Fibromuscular Dysplasia or Disease

Blockages (plaque) in the arteries to the kidneys. This can result in hypertension, heart failure, kidney damage, even kidney failure.

Ballooning of the artery. Once it reaches a certain size threshold repair is recommended to prevent rupture.

Abnormal narrowing of arteries most commonly to the kidneys but occasionally the carotid and intestinal arteries that can result in high blood pressure, stroke or intestinal symptoms.
